Shrink film is a thin film material widely used in product packaging. It shrinks tightly by heating to wrap the product, which plays a role in protection, fixation and beautification. According to different materials and characteristics, shrink film is mainly divided into the following types:
1. PVC shrink film
Features: high transparency, good gloss, high shrinkage rate (up to 60%-70%), low shrinkage temperature (about 80-100℃).
Application: commonly used in beverage bottle labels, daily necessities packaging, electronic products, etc.
Disadvantages: poor environmental protection, may release harmful gases when burned.
2. POF shrink film (multi-layer co-extruded polyolefin heat shrink film)
Features: environmentally friendly and non-toxic (compliant with FDA standards), high transparency, good flexibility, no brittleness at low temperature, high shrinkage rate (up to 75%).
Application: food packaging, cosmetics, medicine and other industries with high environmental protection requirements.
Advantages: can replace PVC and is suitable for fully automatic high-speed packaging machines.
3. PE shrink film (polyethylene shrink film)
Features: strong impact resistance, low temperature resistance (still flexible at -50℃), large shrinkage rate (up to 75%).
Application: alcohol, beverages, industrial products, pallet assembly packaging, etc.
Classification: including cross-linked PE (large shrinkage stress) and non-cross-linked PE (lower cost).
4. OPS shrink film (oriented polystyrene shrink film)
Features: high transparency, high shrinkage rate (horizontal shrinkage can reach 74%), excellent printing performance, environmentally friendly and non-toxic.
Application: beverage bottle labels, high-end commodity packaging, suitable for occasions requiring exquisite printing.
5. PET shrink film (polyester heat shrink film)
Features: high mechanical strength, environmentally friendly and recyclable, high unidirectional shrinkage rate (more than 70%), good anti-counterfeiting performance.
Application: electronic products, metal products, beverage labels, etc.
6. Other special shrink films
EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer) shrink film: small shrinkage stress, suitable for packaging of special-shaped items.
PVDC (polyvinylidene chloride) shrink film: high barrier properties, used for food preservation packaging.
Different shrink films are suitable for different industries. For example, POF and PET are commonly used for food packaging, PVC and OPS are mostly used for beverage labels, and PE is preferred for industrial packaging. When choosing, you need to consider factors such as environmental protection, shrinkage rate, and cost.
